Oh the Grammys were fun!!!! This week is an easy breezy video about the trends I noticed.
The classic smokey eye was hot again but I saw a comeback for the light smokey brown and bronzed eye (which I LOVE!).
My hair guru, Jennifer, called me to see if I was available to work with the most darling YouTube sisters, Shelby and Monica Church. Our collaboration was pure joy. Such sweethearts, and beauties. We learned that we all moved from Seattle which was a lot of fun, and the girls looked perfect on their way out the door.
I hope you enjoy this quick little video! What looks would you like me to show for my next Tuesday segment?
Happy Post Grammys!

I understand that “winter” in LA is kind of like “summer” at the North Pole. Comical.
No matter how much water I seem to drink, my lips have been a total bugger this season due to the super dry weather, which is why I am thrilled to find “Smith’s Rosebud Salve” from Sephora’s Beauty to Go section for about $7. I am in love. My lips are starting to feel so supple and actually stay hydrated.
From the West Coast to the East, my suggestion is to go find this little lip saver, slather liberally, and apply often!
Happy lips!

Oh it’s here, and award season has been here (did the Globes), but I’ve been too busy to blog about it- but here, tonight, the eve before the Grammy Awards, I wanted to say a little something about doing make up for the “big shows.”
It’s exhilarating, it’s breathtaking, it’s hard work, but my gosh is it fun. I love award season because there are always so many twists and turns. People win, others lose, but most look beautiful in the process.
Here’s what a schedule is like if you aren’t in a gifting suite or solely sponsored by a make up brand.
Weeks/Days/Day before:
Solidify your schedule. The best are the repeat clients who loved their looks last year so much, they decided to give you a call back, and book you. That’s always fun. The other side of it are the new clients who you get to work with for the very first time- many fly in for the Grammy Awards, and therefore you cannot do a “trial” in advance. So it’s all about getting an idea, and making sure your kit is stocked with everything and anything you might need.
Night before:
Wash and sanitize your brushes.
Make sure your kit is packed. Now, for those of you who don’t know what a “kit” is, it consists of make up, nail polish (clear/neutral), hair utensils, hair tools, band aids, hairspray, Advil, tylenol, Excederin migraine, double stick tape, clean brushes, brush cleaner, cleanser, moisturizer, eye cream, foundations, blushes, eye shadows, lashes, glue, scissors, mascara, eye liner, lip liner, eyeliner, bronzers, concealers, correctors, highlighter (liquids and powder), tweezers, eye shadow base, cotton pads, q-tips, face mist, rubbing alcohol 99%, breath mints, gum, nail files, cream products, among a slue of other knick knacks. I purchased a couple years ago the best traveling kit that actually holds the majority of my collection from Naimies Beauty Center.
Go to bed!
The day of:
Wake up early, and look flawless. I believe that you don’t have to wear a lot of make up to look “done,” so long as what you do have on looks great.
Eat a hearty breakfast as this might be the only thing you eat besides any bars between gigs IF you have time.
Get to each appointment with enough time to set up, and make sure the client communicates how they want to look. Finish each look and make sure the client is satisfied before cleaning and moving onto the next if you are not set up in a suite!
Finish the day, and go home, clean everything while watching your Grammy Awards DVR style, and then it’s back to bed!
Enjoy the show!

One of my long-time and embarrassing obsessions has been Angelina Jolie’s face. I find her stunning. I find her angles mesmerizing. As I already mentioned, “embarrassingly obsessed.” But when you’re in beauty, there are some faces that just stick with you, and Ms. Jolie’s is one of them for me. Those lips! My gosh. I had a go at re-creating that famous pucker, and here are the steps…
1.) Apply a lip plumper and wait for it to dry
2.) Apply matte concealer to lips, above the lips, and the chin
3.) Grab a Taupe eyebrow pencil and outline your lips
4.) Grab a lip pencil in a nude a little darker than your own lip color and apply to the new lip line
5.) Apply little upward and downward strokes with the lip pencil to mimic Ms. Jolie’s lines in her pout
6.) Use a light highlighter to dust on top of the new lip line and kiss muscles
7.) Apply a TINY dollop of gloss to the top of the new lip line ( just use a little bit since it’s easy to over do it)
8.) Grab your most seductive pose
Please let me know which celebrity features you would be most interested in me re-creating! This was a lot of fun, and something I would love to do more of in the future!
Happy Angelina Jolie-ing!

This week is a throw back to my gig in the Caribbean! I shot a quick little video on the importance of sun care that did not upload due to my spotty internet connection.
Remember to apply SPF before and after going in and out of the water! And apply often.
Remember that every 45 minutes or so you need to reapply. This will keep you looking more like a mermaid and less like a lobster!
What are some of your sun healthy tips?
