Getting my “sparkle fix”

Midnight Cowboy

Oh man.  I am so in LOVE.  I recently disovered the Urban Decay “Midnight Cowboy” liquid liner.  First of all, sparkle is like my coffee- I need a little to pick me up, make me feel awake, and ready for the day, so when I found out about this product, I nearly died from excitement.

This is intended to be used as a liquid eye liner, however, I use it as a light dusting of sparkle happiness all over my eye area.  Ringing in at $19, this product is one that will last forever, and turn heads.  I’ve been stopped so many times now in Los Angeles by strangers needing to know what I am “wearing!”

So grab it before it’s gone this holiday season, and Happy Sparkles!

My Plum Obsessions

I love when fall comes around because inevitably, it will feature one of my favourite colors to wear personally, and apply on my clients: purple, plums, and burgundies.  I find these hues to be especially rich in look and texture, thus LOVE any chance I get to apply especially when the season is “hot” for such colors.  I think of plums and purple as a favorite cashmere sweater that although it’s worn every year around the same time, it’s a happy moment to put it on as it just feels “right.” That’s why this Tune in Tuesday is all about my Plum Obsessions (featuring cameo’s of my mother, father and sister)!

When applying plums, there is no wrong way.  I usually take a more naturalistic approach when teaching, and applying on myself in my tutorials.  Please know you can always add more for an incredibly bold look!

Here is what I used to achieve this look:

1.) Apply a light waterproof shadow all over.  I used Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill #9

2.) Apply Light Purple from base of lash line to crease. I used YSL’s Eye Shadow Harmony For Eyes #11

3.) Apply Deeper Purple as a “V” (sideways with the little point out toward the temple) from the lash line out and back in to the crease

4.) Apply Deepest Purple along lash line and “outside edge” of the eye

5.) Take a highlighting pen under your eye area and clean up and brighten for contour! I used Touche Eclat #2.5

6.) Apply pencil liner under the water line under the top lashes. I always use Dior “Trinidad Black Waterproof

7.) Apply liquid liner very tight to the lash line and flare out in a cat eye getting thicker toward the outside edge. I used ‘Shocking’ by YSL

8.) Apply mascara top down and from below up wiggling and holding for a second to ensure proper curl and volume! I used ‘Babydoll’ by YSL

9.) Apply purple mascara to the bottom lashes quite liberally! I bought the ‘Limited Edition Vision in Violet’ by Maybelline for under $6

10.) I did two lip options: one a Glossy Stain Rebel Nude #108 Violine Out of Control (more mild) and then a Rouge Pur Couture #31 for a more bold option!

Always remember a tooth check and of course your foundation, blush, bronzer, highlighter, etc!

Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like any other tutorials to follow-up this one!  In the meantime, happy plum fantasies!  If you are a visual learner, make sure to click on the video!

Visions in Violet

Great Lash

Purple, Plum, and Burgundy are all the colors on my mind this season!  I love a bold statement, and how better to accomplish that than with a fantastic purple mascara ringing in at under $6??  That is why Great Lash’s limited edition “Vision in Violet” mascara is my Must Have Monday product of choice!

Another mascara indeed, but this one is an “accent” mascara!  You can apply on just the bottom lashes for an ethereal violet hint, or apply on both top and bottoms for a full plum fantasy!  I personally enjoy putting it over my black mascara and really coating it on the bottom lashes. Tune in for my video segment tomorrow as I demonstrate how best to use this mascara with a plum look!

What is the craziest colour you have applied on your eyes using mascara or shadow!?  Do you think the purple mascara trend will stay? (I sure hope so!)

Even Better the Next Day…

DSC05272

Oh my goodness.  I’m still recovering from Thanksgiving’s yummy food and drink!

My family came into town from Washington State, and we had a blast!  From games, to singing, and cooking galore, there is never a dull moment when they are in town.

I was so thankful that my sister came down early, and suggested we check out the flower market in downtown Los Angeles.  What a treat!  So many flower varieties, and such incredible prices.  We went home with 72 roses, and an incredible adventure!  I am proud to announce that she and I brined the turkey…and it actually turned out (thanks to help from the mama).  My father was especially thankful as he wasn’t so sure I could cook.  My good friend brought a home made corn bread stuffing and pumpkin pie to accompany our herb roasted turkey, homemade cranberries, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, yams, carrots, salad, and pecan pie with nutmeg whipped cream.  So much food.  Such fun.

From my family to yours, Happy Post Thanksgiving, and see you soon!

A Thanksgiving “Thanks!”

It’s become the time of year where nostalgia hits, and love bursts from every fiber in my being.  I am someone who is always pushing for the next goal, the next best product, the next best way to create beauty, and as previously mentioned in my article about GRATITUDE it is really best to take some time to breathe in one’s happy moments and successes no matter how big or small.

This is the first year in two years where Michael and I will be able to spend Thanksgiving with our family.  My mother, father, and sister are all coming to spend time with us since we can’t get away from Los Angeles!  Of course we will miss the rest of our family, but it will be amazing to spend some quality time with them for the extended weekend.

Therefore, I felt it appropriate to make a video to thank all of YOU.  Thank you for inspiring me.  To keep pushing me to discover new exciting things.  But most of all, for helping me to create one big dream into a reality.  Because of you, I have consistently posted for 21 weeks an article on beauty and a video on how to do it, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!  This week’s is all about that thanks and excitement.

Next week will feature a video on my, “Plum Obsessed Fall,” so stay tuned!!!

In the meantime, HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND THANK YOU!

Must Have Monday Features “Gratitude”

Image

It’s Must Have Monday, and this weak features something you can’t buy.  “Gratitude.”  With Thanksgiving rounding near, I can’t help but think how important gratitude truly is.  To accept gifts we have been given, and respect the lessons from our downfalls, GRATITUDE is my absolute MUST.

There are a lot of struggles we as people face (sometimes everyday,) and to get through those, and really pay attention to what is given to us is a nice perspective.  For those of us who are constantly trying to better ourselves, push ourselves, and never “settle,” it can be difficult to take a breath, look around, and find gratitude for what we do have.

Personally, I am grateful for art, music, passion, adventures, a house to call our home, a career that allows me to celebrate my passions, life, love, BEAUTY, the ocean, Los Angeles, Spokane, lovely friends, a fabulous family, sweet little kitty cat, and a wonderful husband.

What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving week?

Love and Beauty,

E

Sky High Lashes

Mascara and lashes take center stage when I work with make up.  It’s thrilling to add layer upon layer of mascara as it is one of the quickest and most dramatic changes one can make to their face in such a short amount of time.

I have tried many mascaras, and will always share my honest opinion.  Right now, I’m using “Babydoll” by YSL and really loving the effect.  Sometimes though, even with a good formula, if you’re not applying it correctly, the mascara won’t give you the result you want.  Therefore, today’s “Tune in Tuesday”is all about how to get those Sky High Lashes just in application!

You will need:

1. An Eyelash CurlerUnknown2. Mascaraimages

Steps:

1.) Curl your clean lashes two times from the base of the lashes

2.) Apply your mascara from the top of the upper lashes down

3.) Apply mascara from the bottom of the upper lashes up (gently wiggling, and holding up)

4.) Tap the mascara wand onto the bottom lashes

5.) Repeat steps 2-4 as needed!

I hope you find this helpful!  What are some of your favorite mascaras?

Happy Lash Building!

E

Plump me up!

Sexy Mother Plucker

For those of you who know me, I am always looking for the latest and greatest in the lip plumping department.  I love it when my lips look full and voluptuous and I was oh so thrilled when I discovered the:

SOAP & GLORY
Sexy Mother Pucker™ Extreme Plump (XL)

Oh man.  Just one little swipe of this juice is all it takes.  The taste is delicious (like chocolate yum) and the effect is quite unique and unlike any other plumper I have tried.  After applying, my lips start to vibrate.  “Vibrate” is the best way to describe this sensation.  And I actually notice that my lips look more full, plush, and fantastic after consistent application!  Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking, but I have friends to back me up on this!

So grab one if you dare, and Happy Plumping (again!)

Love and Beauty,

E
