When one producer introduces you to another, you never know what you’ll get. I hit the jackpot when super-star producer (and down to Earth yet model-beauty) Danielle Harrington introduced me to Kristen Campo. Danielle and I met almost four years ago when I moved to Los Angeles as an artist in residency for Giorgio Armani Beauty. A couple of years later, I received the call from Kristen, letting me know Danielle referred her to me as her wedding artist of choice.
Not once did Kristen drop her title, status, or prestige when we worked together to get her wedding look just right. (The photos will be published in a European magazine soon, and I will make sure to share them when they hit the public!)
Not once did she brag or get crazy when she called me to do her make up months later for the Hollywood Reporter’s 21st annual definitive list of the industry’s top execs, 35 and under. She didn’t even tell me until I was doing her make up the other afternoon what it was for!!!

In Los Angeles, a town where everyone is dropping names, and bragging about their accomplishments, Kristen is both humble and down to Earth. It wasn’t until I “googled” her (yeah, I know, I’m creepy) that I found out Kristen developed, created, and brought to life one of my all time favorite TV shows, AMC and then Netflix’s The Killing. Her natural beauty, kindness, and enthusiasm for life makes her one of my all time favorite people.

My business partner, Robert and I at Tori Lucas and Jamal Crawford’s Wedding.
Well, I feel as though I’ve been missing. Sometimes, in my creative state, I tend to “hermit,” to “hide,” to “go away for a while.” This is not only detrimental to my friendships, but also to the logical side of my work. Logically speaking, it would make sense to keep updating the websites, continue with my tutorials, etc. However, in my brain, after a certain amount of time, I feel guilty, helpless, and as though I shouldn’t even bother to “right” it, and in fact, neglect the very evidence of work that propels me in this lifetime.
While I’ve been “away,” I have been welcoming incredible opportunities into my life. My business partner, Rob and I have been working as famed party planner, Mindy Weiss’ beauty team. It is a dream come true. The weddings, parties, and splendor this woman dreams up are beyond anything I thought could come to life. Mindy is creative, kind, patient, and oh so calm. Her team is just the best. Whenever we work a “Mindy” event, we know we will be dazzled, and add the artistic icing to the cake for the ladies and gentlemen we work with to look fantastic. Being a part of the bigger picture is so rewarding.
Here’s a quick synopsis to bring you back to speed!
Memorial Day came and went, and my momma in law and I went to the Burke Williams Spa. It was a dream. The staff there is kind and caring. I felt so safe and welcomed. They even brought us little cakes at the end to thank us for coming! It was so much fun!

There have been many private parties, weddings, soiree’s, trips, and excursions that I can’t write about either due to non-disclosure agreements, etc. However, I can’t wait to show you the finished movie I worked on with actress/director/writer Sarah J Eagen. When it is completed, you’ll be some of the first to know!

Whenever I am creating anything, this little muffin just wants to be the center of attention.
After she continually tried to see what I was doing, I decided to show her what all the fuss was about….She is quite the cosmetically interested cat!

Summer is more than officially here in Los Angeles! I realize it might not be quite so “hot” in all areas of the US.
Here are a couple trends to watch out for, and replicate to get a close to that summer feel in case you still have a touch of spring!
Denim:
Wow! It is everywhere…jackets, shorts, skirts, shirts! Denim is making a HUGE presence here in CA. My suggestions: Pair a fun shirt with cute black jeans for an almost denim on denim look.
Teal:
I LOVE a good teal eyeliner. My picks would be Stila’s liquid and or pencil in Peacock and Turquoise respectively. If you’re on a budget, go for the Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Emerald Sparkle.

And finally, onto my favourite summer trend: BRONZE. Oh golly. I am all about a tan and bronzed look, especially since I am pale 90% of the year. I go all out when the summer months hit with lots of bronzer, sunless tans, and bronzed blush. I am a melanoma survivor, so SPF is not an option- it is a MUST, and tanning beds are out of the question. However, my favorite place in the world is at my lake place in Eastern Washington on the Columbia, or the Beach so SPF 50, lots of re-applying, and best practices for safe sun ensue.
Here are some of my favorite picks for sunless tanning, and bronzing up your look!

My biggest tips for happy sunless tanning are:
1. Exfoliate!!!!!! (See how to make a DIY sugar scrub here)
2. Moisturize dry areas (coconut oil is amazing)
3. Use a mitt (always)
4. Apply in the AM
5. Wear loose black clothing
6. Don’t work out!
7. Wash off before bed so as not to ruin your sheets
8. Or wear to bed but cover head to toe in pj’s (or use not so nice sheets)
