Mmmm…..I so enjoy the holiday season! My husband, Mike, and I love to snuggle up with a cup of hot cocoa especially when November comes around. Therefore, Hot Cocoa is a MUST for this Must Have Monday!
Hot cocoa has many benefits besides being delicious. It possesses antioxidants which are stronger in potency than those found in red wine! Flavonoids are also present in hot cocoa and increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain (students take note as this can help you think more effectively.) For me? I just love the texture, taste and wonderful memories associated with a hot cup of cocoa!
Now, instant packets may be tasty, but it’s healthier to make your own. Here is a recipe for home made hot cocoa I found from Betty Crocker that includes cinnamon, a known circulation stimulant!
You Will Need:
4 cups light chocolate soy milk
2 oz semisweet baking chocolate, chopped
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
1. In 2-quart saucepan, heat soymilk, chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.
2. Heat to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring constantly; reduce heat to low.
Simmer 4 minutes, stirring frequently, to blend flavors.
3. Garnish each serving with whipped topping (if desired).
Enjoy! What are some of your favorite holiday treats?
Happy Hot Cocoa-ing!
Love and Beauty,
E
