You know when you meet someone, and you instantly feel that you’ve known them for all your life? That was my experience with my friend and fellow make up artist, Nicole Wittman. We have had crazy nights, amazing collaborations, raw discussions, and countless laugh attacks.
I realize that almost every photo I have with Nicole is blurry because we are always going, going, going, that we rarely take the time for a clear photo! I kind of love this about us as we are all about living in our moments!
I wanted to highlight Nicole today because when you finish school, you realize that you can choose your friends. You get to hang out with who you really want to- you can surround yourself with people who lift you up, make you laugh, and keep you on your toes for the next adventure! Take today as it is the New Year to edit your friend list- do they make you happy? Do you leave feeling as good or better than you did before/when you saw them? Is your friendship reciprocated? Does it go two ways with communication?
I need help in reaching out to friends (ongoing resolution) as I don’t want to “inconvenience them” or interrupt them as they might be “busy.” In my mother’s words, “it’s the stories you tell yourself that keep you from really getting what you want,” substantial friendships included! Nicole is quick to say, “just call me!” “you have a free minute? See if I do too!” While we might not see each other as much as we could, every time we do, it’s a ton of fun!
I found a great friend in Nicole (one of my first in LA), and have had such joy in watching her career skyrocket when she took the leap of faith into freelance make up artistry. She has been seen on ANTM, graced the backstage of numerous Fashion Weeks, and through it all, lifted me up in my career as well! So here’s to you, Nicole! And to us! And to many more adventures, laugh attacks, and friendship! Hey ladies in the industry, who is someone you appreciate? Let’s support one another and lift each other up!
Happy Friend Day!
Love and Beauty,
E
