Put me in some YSL!!

When I finally decided to pick up this beauty for me, I couldn’t have been more pleased. The colors for the YSL Pure Chromatics in number 20 are luxurious and have a beautiful pigment. The case is a luxurious gold.

I LOVE this palette. It also works into the fall trend of plum and golds.

To apply for day:
1.) Take the lightest color and apply from lash line to brow bone
2.) Take the lighter gold, and apply from lash line to the crease and the bottom waterline
3.) Take the deeper gold, and apply in the crease as a contour
4.) Wet an eyeliner brush, and grab the purple pigment: apply as eyeliner with a slight wing

To apply for night:
Steps 1-4
5.) Take the plum and apply to the outside edge of your eye area and blend. Repeat for more drama!

You can use all the colors wet or dry. I can’t wait to try the palette wet because I know the color will be just that much more glorious and pigmented! Check out the video for a visual “how-to” and also a super cute kitty cameo!

In the meantime, Happy Fall, and happy YSL!

For Sleeplessness, GABA is my Must have Monday!

Image

I always considered myself a night owl.  Then the truth hit; I just don’t sleep.  My mind is constantly racing; thinking of the next look I want to create, running through lists of to do’s, remembering the people I’ve met, and anything/everything in-between.

Sleeplessness is something I have dealt with for a while now, however, with my gigs, I need to be rested to make sure I’m at my best!  My friend and co-conspirator, Rob, (facesbyrob on Instagram) decided we needed a little trip to Whole Foods to find something natural and gentle.

And then there was GABA.  Oh my goodness.  Sleep in an all natural, little supplement.  It actually helps block neurotransmissions for those of us who can’t stop thinking, and allows the body to fall into a lovely little sleep.  One thing I have noticed, though, is that when it starts to kick in, I myself get a little woozy.  So once the “woozy” hits, slap your face on that pillow!

In addition to sleeplessness, it also works to relieve anxiety, PMS, and pain.  There are some studies that show it can help with ADHD and lean muscle growth, but I’m just thankful that after I take it, I can sleep!

What are some ways you help to combat sleeplessness?  Happy sleeping!

E

Famous Words……

Famous Words….

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others;

for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness;

and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

The Royal Captivator

The Royal Captivator

I had the recent pleasure of working with “The Royal Captivator,” Miss Burlesque Australia’s very own Sina King.

We had a glorious week of Los Angeles fantasy including;

*a Hollywood Hills Party with familiar faces
*a Melrose adventure from Alexander McQueen to Dash
*a VIP tour of the Magic Castle
*a Photo shoot with yours truly, and Photographer of the Year for Hollywood 2013, Pheren Soepadhi.

Sina is a dream to work with. The delicacy of her hands to the expression in her eyes makes her an ideal client. We decided to create a traditional burlesque look with a little LA glam infusion.

Here’s the finished look! I hope you enjoy!

How to Match Foundation

I love helping people find the perfect foundation. Here is an easy how to…

1. Find three colors that are close to your skin tone
2. On your jawline, make three stripes
3. Let it sit for a moment, then blend out the edge
4. Which one is most natural? That’s your foundation color!

Do not hesitate to go seek professional help at your local Sephora (they have an incredibly cool device that measures the color in your face so you have a chance to try all types of foundation in the perfect color), Nordstrom, Saks, Macy’s, etc.etc.

When in store, look for someone:
1. approachable
2. with the same color of face to body ratio so you know they have a good eye for color
3. who will match you on your jawline (your face is a different color from your neck or hand so don’t match there).

For those of us with a couple different tones throughout our face, (i.e. my forehead is a little darker than my chin) you might need either a very great bronzer, or a couple different colors. Women of color or with deeper skin tones may need to purchase a couple different foundations for this reason to give the illusion of an even skin tone.

For those with Melasma or freckles, make sure to find a color inbetween the freckle/melasma and skin tone.  Too light, and you will look grey, too dark, and you’ll look off.

Always seek the help of a professional if you feel overwhelmed or at a loss with cosmetics.  Have fun, take your time, and enjoy the process! Make up is fun, remember!

Happy Matching!

“Essie” Nail Polish!

I know that Essie has been around for a while, but I just love this nail polish brand. I feel so lady-like and put together whenever I get or give myself an Essie Mani. My favorite colours are Ballet Slippers and Limo-Scene.

The combination of wearability, chip resistance, luscious colour selection and affordable price (between $7.79-$10 depending on where you buy) keeps me coming back for more.

Most manicures last about two days for me since I’m always using my hands, but I know that with my Essie, I am set for at least a week!

You can find Essie most anywhere now, but for remote areas, ask the local nail salon if they sell their polishes. I promise you will love these. Do note, however, Essie needs at least two coats (I prefer three) in order to give you the perfectly poised pads you desire.

Happy Polishing!

YSL Obsessed

“The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion…” YSLImage

I tend to love at least one product from every make up brand out there.  I have re-fallen in love with YSL Beauty.  Luxury, texture, silky, elegance, wonderful scent, and wearability all come to mind when thinking of YSL.

I purchased the YSL Pure Chromatics (wet/dry eyeshadow quad) in #20, and the Rouge Volupte Silky- Sensual Radiant Lipstick in #11.

If the names don’t get you excited, I don’t know what will!  I love anything silky sensual and radiant, and am continually impressed by how well this lipstick goes on.  My only complaint is that since I have large teeth, I tend to sport the lipstick on both my lips and my teeth if I’m not careful!

I haven’t used the shadows on myself yet as I want to do a product review on for a Tune in Tuesday segment (I have used these on countless clients and they are always a red carpet stopper).  I will definitely post a how to wear all the colors and lipstick soon.

In the meantime, what are some of your favorite make up brands?

Love and Beauty,

E

Movie Magic

Image

There’s another part of my life I like to keep private as I am known in my world as a “make up artist,” however, this is the year to let it all out!  I love acting.  I love movies.  I love anything that has to do with anything in front of or behind a camera.  From shooting to editing, I find film one of the most fascinating mediums for art…in the world.  You can manipulate a single frame, one blink, with music, context, and all of a sudden that one blink is telling years of story.

I was recently cast in a music video, “Trophy,” as a paparazzi (when it airs of course I’ll post!) and had an amazing time working with the cast and crew.  It happened to be the same day as the Mexican Billboard Awards (Oct 10th 2013).  I decided to snap a quick shot of “the scene.”

Image

In the music video, I was cast as “paparazzi,” and caught some wonderfully candid photos of the artist, who is going to be a huge sensation this year!  His music video concept for, “Trophy,” was one I found admirable.  He is taking a “Macklemore” type of direction where “ho’s” “chains” “designer duds” and the traditional slinging guns and words mentality is not necessary to be an artist of rhyme.  I was so impressed, and he was so NICE!

ImageImage

The crew invited me to visit their sounds stage and filming studio in Downtown Los Angeles after my shoot wrapped, so of course I took the invitation!  I was so close to being added for another featured role, however, I had a Jr League meeting to run to, so I had to jet.  All in all, I had an amazing time, met wonderfully talented people, ate some good food, and left with IMDB credit to my name!  I’d say, “I’m not in Kansas anymore,” however, in LALA Land, anything seems as normal as Oz.
