Must Have Sunnies and Pretty Woman Nails

20140628-111418-40458643.jpg

Must have Monday is back (though early as I’m too excited to wait for Monday!) This week shares my obsession with Pretty Woman Nails. I was lucky enough to receive a care package in the mail, and haven’t stopped playing since!

Pretty Woman nails incorporates fun new trends and applications for nail polish and nail art. I am not cleaver enough to play with the nail art yet but I am gaining the courage to try the little sparkles and foil applications.

I went to Nature’s Nails on Robertson to get the most sanitary mani/pedi (disposable pumice stones, ultrasonic cleansed utincils, no nasty foot tubs) you’ll find in Los Angeles. Tracy is the owner, and she is just wonderful! They were packed, but treated me like royalty, and took their time.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, I did a DIY Nail feature on my YouTube channel- search YouTube and emilyoliverbeauty. It will pop right up!

In the meantime, my DIY nail tip is… Remember to paint the tops of your nails where the skin meets the nail- after your nails are dried, run your hands under water, and the polish will come off of where it shouldn’t be- this will make you mani last, and look fantastic!

Talk you soon, and Happy Nails!

E

Has it been this long?

I’m back and better than ever! It’s been a whirlwind of entertaining, gigs, and more! But I’ve been trying new products, working the red carpet, and have so much to share with you!

Tip of the day- coconut oil is a game changer- use it for everything. From moisturizing split ends to taking off pesky eye make up, I am wildly, completely, and utterly in love with the stuff!

Not to mention, I have a great recipe for you using coconut oil- marinate fresh salmon in coconut oil, shallots, dill, salt, pepper, garlic, and brown sugar- cook 2lbs in the oven for about 20-25 minutes. Serve on top of kale with mango, onions, tomato, cucumber, toasted almonds, and a dressing of olive oil, vinegar, honey, and mustard- amazingly yummy, surprisingly simple, and a dinner for four cost me about $25.

So stay tuned for more beauty bliss and love from yours truly.

Love and Beauty,

E

Trinkets Galore at the Fairfax Flea Market!

Trinkets Galore at the Fairfax Flea Market!

Flea Markets!!!!  Los Angeles is full of them!  Not only are the packed with clothing, furniture, and kitschy gift ideas, but also my favourite….body products!  At the Fairfax Flea Market, many of the body products are organic, and smell divine.

I meet at least one person I feel as though I’ve met before (whenever I go anywhere,) and this time it was Lyntoya Williamson of the lifestyle and organic brand, Linnie Drew.  Not only is this woman gorgeous, but the sentiment behind her organic fragrant Shea butter products is just the sweetest.  Her whole line is dedicated to her grandmother.

Lyntoya and I hit it off right away and started obsessing over her deliciously fragranced shea butter creations in these beautifully packaged pots of yum.  I love that her line does not test on animals, and is purely shea butter and essences.  I am particularly obsessed with the Indian Temple Bliss butter and fragrance roll on, as well as the Mediterranean Wind butter.  And how fantastic is her packaging???!!

The best thing about flea markets is finding out information and treasures you might not have known before.  One woman can inspire a whole lifestyle line!  I love my new products, and am thankful for the opportunity to meet such a strong, gorgeous, and kind woman!

Oh!  And in Los Angeles, it feels as though everyone has a pet, and it is fun to see them on “parade” at the market. I especially liked this guy…

So cute!

What are some of your favourite Flea Market Finds???

Happy Treasures!

Beach Ready Babes

It’s my favourite time of year here in sunny California!  The weather is just perfect, the beaches aren’t too crowded yet, and the salty air is fantastic!

Going to the beach can require as little maintenance as throwing on a swim suit, but for those who want to shop a little, grab some lunch, while maintaing a beach ready look, follow these easy steps to be a beach ready babe!

My colleague, Urosh and I at Malibu beach!

My colleague, Urosh, and I, at Malibu beach! (Notice the Sephora bags!)

1. Make sure you apply sunscreen- I forgot to go over this in the video, but my daily moisturizer is all about SPF.

2. Apply brows if you need them!

3. Apply a highlight shadow (I love Josie Maran Argan liquid Highlighter) on your eyes (I throw a bronze color under the eye and on top of the lid as well) and cheeks

4. Throw on a CC or BB Cream or tinted moisturizer.  I’m using Clinique.

5. Apply your Mascara

6. Apply blush/highlighter/bronzer if you choose.

7. Grab an easy lip gloss

8. And throw your hair in a pony tail or beach ready braid: you’re ready to go!

Beach looks are all about ease and comfort.  The best accessory you can grab though is your confidence!

What are some of your favourite beach time traditions??

Happy Beach Times!

Day to Night Make up!

Ohh!  I love a good transformation, and I tell you what… make up on me really makes a HUGE difference.  This week I decided to showcase going from day to night make up, which actually turned into adding make up on top of make up.  When I am running from event to event, I do not have the luxury of wiping off my make up and starting fresh. That is why I decided to show a make up on make up look that is relatively simple and takes a tiny amount of time!

Make up completely worn from the day!

Make up completely worn from the day!

Big Difference!

Big Difference!

So this week here is the rundown of what I do when I need to “re-do!”

1. Apply light shadow from the bottom of the top lid up to the crease

2. Add Black shadow to the water line (I used a black sparkly one from Urban Decay in one of their kits)

3. Take black shadow outside of eye and create a tiny sideways “v” with the point going toward your temple and into the crease (just a tiny bit into the crease!)

4. Blend

5. Accent Color on the top middle of the eye

6. Blend!

7. Coppery gold onto the eye lid 3/4 way out to the outside

8. Blend!

9. Brows

10. Eyeliner

11. Lashes

12. Foundation

13. Highlighter/Blush

14. Blend with foundation brush

15. Lip Gloss

16. A tiny dab of eye cream will keep you looking fresh and hydrated!

I know it seems crazy, but trust me, it really does pick up my mood and elevate the way I look from a day “natural” to a night “vamp!”

What looks would you like to see me demonstrate?  Anything you’ve been wanting to try, but too scared it is complicated?  Please let me know.

Happy Transformations!

Love and Beauty,

E

First Weekend in Luxembourg

My talented sister has a blog all about travels, Luxembourg, and Europe!
Monica works with Amazon, acts in plays, writes poetry, has sung with the Symphony, and is my favourite person in the world. Stop on by. You’ll be so glad you did!

*Disclaimer* The below format is pretty dicey, this is my first blog and still fighting through editing. I think coding straight HTML is easier than using wordpress’ function buttons. Have any tips? Please message me below! Okay, on with the show….

This weekend a lovely friend came back to Luxembourg to spend my first few days with me and introduce me to some locals. We attended a rubber duck race, ate cart-side sausage, and went out dancing after a rooftop meet-n-greet. Needless to say, it was a wonderful introduction! This will be mostly photos because I couldn’t take enough shots of the beautiful city!

Here

they

come!!!!

Everyone in the town speaks French – for anyone visiting I’d highly recommend brushing up or learning a few simple phrases. The locals are very nice and will try to accommodate or help in English, which is pretty easy for them…

Make Up in a Rush!

No time to do make up!!!!!  This is how I feel most mornings (funny enough)!  While I LOVE make up, and love getting others ready, I somehow find that I am rushing to apply my make up no matter the occasion.

My fabulous parents were in town for their birthdays (they are just a month apart), so we had a blast running around Los Angeles, and having night time cocktails under the Los Angeles sky, while dancing to oldies and some classic rock and roll.  Needless to say, we had the best time!

Just hanging out in crowns! (I made them!)

Just hanging out in crowns! (I made them wear them!)

My sweet parents!

My sweet parents! Welcome to the next decade! You wear it well!

My gorgeous mama!

My gorgeous mama and dad in the background!

Oh!  The point!  So all of a sudden it was time to take them to the airport, and I needed to get some make up on my face.  I thought, what a great tutorial idea!  So here are what I found to be the quick basics to fake your way to a flawless face!

1. Eye Primer/Lightener;  I used the Milani super cheap pencil’s matte side to prep my eyes and tone them out.

2. I took a highlighter from the face and cheek palette by Sephora for their Radiant Orchid theme, and applied to my lid the lightest color.

3. Brows!

4. Stila liquid eyeliner in black a little thicker than normal for a “retro look.”

5. Mascara!!!!

6. Foundation (can skip this part if you’re really pressed on time)

7. A little highlighter and pink blush

8. A bright lip

That’s it!  You’re ready to go, and will look like you’ve spent at least 30 minutes on this easy, quick, and simple look!

Let me know how it goes for you!?  Any good quick tips?  Mine is if I’m really in a pinch, I’ll use a lipstick for lips and cheeks!  Voila!

Happy Rush/Makeup!

E

Scrub a Dub Dub

Oh boy.  It’s been two weeks, but I have been saving my energy and passion for something truly amazing.  Sara Happ Lip Products.  These have made my “Must Have Monday,” not only for myself but also for my clients.

I am dubbing this the “pre-wedding” must have as we are thick into wedding season!  This past weekend I had my bride prep her lips with the Sara Happ lip scrub that is made of sugar, grape-seed oil, jojoba oil, and kukui oil.  Not only is it organic, but also natural, paraben free and healing!  The lip slip balm is a healing balm, and I used it as a lip primer under my bride’s lipstick.  I am so impressed, and did I mention that I tried to eat the scrub? It tastes and smells that good!  Look for Sara Happ at Nordstrom stores and you will thank me when you do!!!!!!

Steps:

Use the lip scrub

Apply the lip slip balm

Apply any lip color and follow with the Sara Happ gloss.

Thank you to @hautecatoure (on instagram) for introducing me to the new “it girl” of lip products!  Thank you Sara Happ for making a lip product with a conscience, and for making my lips so smooth and supple!

Happy Lips!

Love and Beauty,

E
