Tony and I with The Couture Gift Collection!

I love TV.  I love the news.  I love beauty.  This is, in short, the perfect job.  Another part of my job that I love is highlighting companies and products I find on trend, or in this case, who found me.

When Sharon Shimony, Chief Executive Officer, Stylist, and Gift Curator of The Couture Gift Collection, reached out to me, I was all in.  I thought, finally a company that puts together products that I love, and does the curating for me.  I found that when you work with Shimony, the best gift comes forward! gilt-city-couture-gift-glam-girl-main-600x600men-switch-gold-razor-shwood-main-600x600BWB7329_main-600x600

The Couture Gift Collection has an edge over other companies because you chose how much money you spend from $49 to Hermes (yes, they have Hermes partnership), tell them who it’s for, favourite colors, genre of gifts, etc, and they do the rest.  Next day shipping, no problem.  Corporate gifting?  You got it.  The Couture Gift Collection is a company founded in 2014 that was the GOLDEN GLOBES GIFT BASKET SPONSOR!  That means THEY’RE THE ONES PUTTING TOGETHER THE GIFTS FOR THE CELEBRITIES!!!!!!!  They sent out to Oprah!  (Oprah!)

But if you watched me on Fox 11 News this morning, you already know all of that!  So let’s start listing the good stuff.  Shimony curated a box specifically for me with my love of cosmetics, Los Angeles, and the color pink.  I think they nailed it.

When you get the right combination of people together, magic can happen.  When I partnered with celebrity hair stylist T’Nique Jones and celebrity photographer Allen Zaki for a #make #over story inspired by #Rihanna and #JLo, I absolutely think magic happened.  Our models were so kind and fantastic, the mood was great, and over all, it was just a bunch of artists trying to make something happen.

One for Two!

Photo from instagram by Sophie Elkus of angelfoodstyle.com

Good gravy the woman is a goddess.  Sophie and I have collaborated together now for almost four years for many of her blog photos!  This time we mixed up the look a little bit relying on an amazing limited edition (and I believe sold out) eye palette by NARS.  I also used the Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Liner which I haven’t had in my kit for months and I re-fell in love with all its glory! The rest of the look stayed pretty much the same as to last week’s look.  Thank you Sophie for your insight, friendship, beauty, and inspiration!

Talk about having an amazing #muse! Enjoy #sundance!

Happy Inspiration!

E

One of the reasons I so enjoy working with Sophie of #angelfoodstyle is her inner and outer beauty. It’s always a pleasure,  and this past week’s collaboration was no different. I hope you enjoy the look we created together as much as I do!

Here’s what I used:

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Armani blush 10

WCW: Nicole Wittman

You know when you meet someone, and you instantly feel that you’ve known them for all your life?  That was my experience with my friend and fellow make up artist, Nicole Wittman.  We have had crazy nights, amazing collaborations, raw discussions, and countless laugh attacks.

Twinsies night!

Twinsies night 2011!

I realize that almost every photo I have with Nicole is blurry because we are always going, going, going, that we rarely take the time for a clear photo!  I kind of love this about us as we are all about living in our moments!

I wanted to highlight Nicole today because when you finish school, you realize that you can choose your friends.  You get to hang out with who you really want to- you can surround yourself with people who lift you up, make you laugh, and keep you on your toes for the next adventure! Take today as it is the New Year to edit your friend list- do they make you happy? Do you leave feeling as good or better than you did before/when you saw them?  Is your friendship reciprocated?  Does it go two ways with communication?

Nicole and I after finishing the runway make up for an event!

Nicole and I after finishing the runway make up for an event!

I need help in reaching out to friends (ongoing resolution) as I don’t want to “inconvenience them” or interrupt them as they might be “busy.”  In my mother’s words, “it’s the stories you tell yourself that keep you from really getting what you want,” substantial friendships included!  Nicole is quick to say, “just call me!” “you have a free minute? See if I do too!” While we might not see each other as much as we could, every time we do, it’s a ton of fun!

Sweet little Chica Marie= sweetest dog ever!

Sweet little Chica Marie= sweetest dog ever!

I found a great friend in Nicole (one of my first in LA), and have had such joy in watching her career skyrocket when she took the leap of faith into freelance make up artistry.  She has been seen on ANTM, graced the backstage of numerous Fashion Weeks, and through it all, lifted me up in my career as well! So here’s to you, Nicole!  And to us!  And to many more adventures, laugh attacks, and friendship!  Hey ladies in the industry, who is someone you appreciate?  Let’s support one another and lift each other up!

My gorgeous talented friend!

Happy Friend Day!

Sparkle and Shine this New Year

Three, two, ONE!  Happy (Almost) New Year!

This year has been one of triumphs, heart ache, and a lot of hard work and play!  Now it’s time to ring in the New Year with a little POP and sparkle that isn’t found in the sky!

Most gorgeous news crew and I!

Most gorgeous news crew and I!

I happily partnered with Fox 11 News to show you all my favorite New Year’s Eve Look and just in time!  So sit back, read on, and have some fun replicating for your big parties TONIGHT!  This is a relatively quick and easy look.

Claire, my beautiful model, and myself!

Claire, my beautiful model, and myself!

You will need:

1. A light Eye Shadow:

shopping-1

Lorac Pro Palette #2 $42

I’ll be using from Lorac Pro 2 Palette’s lightest colors.

*Buff all over, Snow on the top lid up to the crease, Beige at the brow bone and inner corner, and Rose blended in the crease.

2. A Thin Liquid Liner:

shopping-4

Stila Liquid Liner $20

I love Stila’s “Stay All Day” Liquid Liner.

3. Ardell False Lashes (Natural)

shopping-2

Ardell Lashes “Natural” $3.59

If you have sensitive eyes, before you apply the lashes, cut the large ends a little, so that they rest shorter across your eye- not only will they look more natural, but won’t be pesky, or poke you!

4. Duo Waterproof Glue

Duo Waterproof Glue $10-$15

Apply a thin strip to the lashes, wait for it to become tacky, then apply gently and remember to breathe and take your time.

5. Mascara

Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils $30.

Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils $30.

This is my ultimate add on to make lashes look completely camera and runway ready.  Proceed with caution for these lashes will be HUGE!

6. A Hint of Glint!

Urban Decay Heavy Metal "Midnight Cowboy" Glitter Liner $19

Urban Decay Heavy Metal “Midnight Cowboy” Glitter Liner $19

I chose Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Midnight Cowboy Glitter Liner as I can control how much I put onto the lid, and know it will stay all night long.

7. Fuschia Lipstick!!!!!

NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in "Schiap" $24

NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick in “Schiap” $24

One of my most favourite Fuschia’s is by NARS.  It’s staying power is just divine, and I LOVE the way it looks. Great for ALL skin tones, and all ages!

I like to stand out in a crowd, and think why go traditional red lip, or smokey eye, when there’s a flirty, and fun option!??!  It’s 2015!! Go for a change and challenge yourself- your photos will thank you!!!

Please know that the above are my “lust” products, and you can find fantastic alternatives for less.  Make up is all about having fun, enjoying art, and celebrating beauty!

A HUGE thank you to Caligrip for my amazing skirt!  I am in love with your brand, the craftsmanship, and texture!  It is so beautiful, and an honor to wear your clothing!

Be safe, remember to assign a Designated Driver, or cab your way into the New Year.  Have so much fun, and let me know your plans for the night!

Thank you for an amazing year, for all your views, follows, clicks, shares, and general love for beauty.  It really does mean the world to me, and I hope to bring you more exciting, fun, beauty from the perspective of me, your favorite celebrity make up artist!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Love and Beauty,

E

Kiss my Red, Red LIPS!

My Ladies and I rocking out Red!

My Ladies and I rocking out Red!

Holiday party this…work function that. We are in the home stretch of the “season’s greetings,” my beauty friends!  While the smokey eye is a lot of fun to rock out during the “season,” sometimes it is a subtle eye – with a striking RED LIP – that really “wows” the crowd!

image

Claire and Shirin are both so stunning!

Claire and Shirin are both so stunning!

Mastering a red lip can take time and dedication, but I promise once you get the hang of it, you will not hesitate the next time you want to look gorgeous in a short amount of time.

Here is what I think works best to ensure a clean, precise, and “en pointe” red lip.

Step One:

Make sure your lips are clean, exfoliated, and moisturized from the night before.

Step Two:

Line your lips and FILL IN THE ENTIRE LIP with a RED LIP LINER…My favorite for the moment is NYX, “Ruby” Waterproof Mechanical Lip Pencil.

NYX Retractable Lip Liner in "Ruby."

NYX Retractable Lip Liner in “Ruby.”           $4.50

Step Three:

Outline the liner with Glow Minerals’ Glo Lip Filler Pencil.  This is your barrier protector, and will make sure your lipstick and liner do not feather.  I apply this AFTER the lip liner, as it is best to create the barrier protection after your outline is defined.

Glow Minerals GloLip FIller Pencil

Glow Minerals GloLip FIller Pencil                    $18

Step Four:

Apply your red lipstick!  I start my application straight from the tube, and apply on the top lip, then put my lips together, and use a brush to fill in the rest.  It is best to create a stain (blot, apply, blot, apply) but if you don’t have the time or the patience, just make sure you keep your lipstick on you for touch ups!  My favourite red is the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Number 1 “Le Rouge” in Blood Red.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture "Blood Red" Number One $35

YSL Rouge Pur Couture “Blood Red” Number One

Step Five:

Grab a Flat Concealer Brush and outline outside your lips with your favorite concealer for that crisp “magazine” airbrushed look. Make sure to blend out and away from the lips onto your face, so you don’t get a “white line” look.

Sephora Pro Flat Concealer Brush $20

I used the Make Up Forever Concealer Kit.

Make Up Forever Concealer Kit $38

Make Up Forever Concealer Kit $38

Voila!  You’re done! Some people actually press a tissue to their lips and powder on top for extra longevity…I do not do this step as by this point I’m ready to head out of the door!  It seems like a lot of steps, however, when you’re working it out, it shouldn’t take more than about 5 minutes.

I love to partner this look with a super clean eye lid, classic liner, lots of lashes, and a hint of sparkle.

Urban Decay Vanilla Eye Shadow

Urban Decay Vanilla Eye Shadow $18 (apply all over)

Urban Decay "Fawn" Eye Shadow

Urban Decay “Fawn” Eye Shadow $18 (contour)

Urban Decay "Midnight Cowboy Rides Again" Shadow

YSL "Shocking" Felt Tip EyeLiner in Black $34

Ardell Lashes "120" Demi Black $2.50-$5.50 depending on where you purchase them.

Ardell Lashes “120” Demi Black $2.50-$5.50 depending on where you purchase them.

SO BE BOLD for these last few weeks, and let me know how it goes for you!  In the meantime, I’ll be leaving little red lip marks on every cup from which I drink!

Happy Holidays, and Happy RED LIPS!

Love and Beauty,

E
